luck, then you beat peyton manning and tom brady on the road and your defense-- which was suspect the whole year-- allows 14 points a a game in those three games then you start to say, you know, there's something going on here. and you start to look at them and say this is really not the ravens team that they appeared to be in december. but then 49ers come in and they've got this young stallion of a quarter back who runs as well as he throws and how about this? he runs for 181 yards in one playoff game against green bay then in the next playoff game he only runs one time on purpose for minus two yards. and so -- and he beats the atlanta falcons in the championship game with his arms, not his legs. so you're the ravens and you say what are we going to see kaepernick the runner? kaepernick the passer? some sort of hybrid guy who who's between? that's why there's so many interesting storylines in this game revolving not just around the people but the strategy. >> rose: there's also the story of both quarter backs, not only caber nick but flacco. >> rose: >> joe flacco is an amazing s

. the niners are also known for a stellar defense. they ranked third in the nfl in to total defs this year. how many teams have won a super bowl in the last 20 years supporting a top three defense? the answer is only five of the 20 teams with the average defensive rank for a super bowl champ coming in at 9.2. regular season record would indicate that the 49ers are a better football team than the ravens about but in the last two decades, the team with the better record has won the big game only eight times. the team with the lesser record has won eight times as well. and four games featured teams with the same record. the record is basically a wash, which is to say it doesn't mean anything. now all these numbers might seem a little bit unpalletable. there is hope yet for 49ers fans. the most important metric has yet to be released. i am told the annual janelle wang prediction we are waiting fortruly who will win. >> i am predicting the niners win. i will release how many points next wednesday. >> mark it on your calendar. >>> the newest colin kaepernick t-shirt. in anticipation for the super bow

a little bit. but this read option is creating real problems. every defensive player i talk to talks about the same thing. because by the time you figure out who has the ball, now you've got an nfl caliber quarterback with a 94-mile-an-hour fastball, which is what he was as a pitcher. back away from the line of scrimmage with about five seconds to throw. and his receivers are 30, 40 yards down the field. zone defenses cannot handle that. >> and questions about him. is the stage going to be too bright, is he going to be able to handle it? i want to show you guys something. this is a kid who has never lacked confidence. this is a letter he wrote in the fourth grade. they asked him to write a letter to themselves. he not only predicted that he might be playing for the niners, that's in there, but he said he was 5'2" at the time, and he predicted his current height, 6'4". so he's obviously got a good streak until. he can see the future. and we know he sees himself winning this super bowl. pretty amazing for a guy -- >> he needs to go to -- like wall street and start predicting the stock moveme
